Govs go 3-2 in past five games


The past several games the Wallace Govs  have played didn’t resemble anything on their original schedule. That’s because so many games had to rescheduled and even venues changed because of the weather. But the Govs finally got the last of the games in this past Sunday. Here is a quick recap of how those games went.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Govs lost to Chipola 10-8 in Marianna. Craig Crouch took the loss for the Govs.

At the plate, Jack Bradford had two hits and three RBIs. Seth Evans also had two hits with a double and three RBIs.

Thursday afternoon, the Govs split a double-header against Abraham-Baldwin in Tifton.

The Govs lost the first game 10-8, with Wes Carter taking the loss. However former Rehobeth standout Jake Brown hit the team’s first home run of the year. Brown was two-for-four with the home run, a double and four RBIs.

Wallace bounced back to win the second game 11-3. Sawyer Betts struck out seven while picking up the win. Drew Eady went three-for-four with three RBIs, a double, triple, and single.  John McNamara had a double with two RBIs.

                Sunday afternoon, the Govs swept a pair of games against Volunteer State.  Wallace won the first game 5-2. The Govs got a strong pitching performance from Jordan Martin who gave up only one hit in six innings of work. Ti Inlow picked up the save.  

                In game two, the Govs came away with a 7-2 victory. Austin Whilock got the win, while Austin Bizzle got the save. Dothan’s John Hutto went three-for-four with three RBIs, while Whitlock was two-for-four with two RBIs.

                The Govs are scheduled to play Darton College at Rehobeth this Wednesday afternoon.
