Wallace-Dothan and Eufaula Celebrate Community College Month


Dothan, Ala. – In recognition of Alabama Community College Month, the mayors of Dothan and Eufaula signed proclamations recognizing the contribution of Wallace Community College to their cities. The Alabama Community College System (ACCS) is Alabama’s single largest system of public higher education – and its most affordable.

WCCD President Dr. Linda C. Young visited the Eufaula City Council on April 2 and received the proclamation from Eufaula Mayor Jack Tibbs. She followed up with a visit to the Dothan City Commission on April 3 to accept the proclamation from Dothan Mayor Mark Saliba.

The College has much to celebrate. Last year, Wallace received the AACC Award of Excellence for Student Success by the American Association of Community Colleges. Wallace continues to have one of the highest student retention and success rates in the ACCS.

Between the two campuses, Wallace enrolls approximately 4,700 credit students in academic, health science and career technical programs. Around 3,000 non-credit students a year benefit from adult education, workforce training programs, and continuing education.

WCC works with individuals to yield a well-educated workforce, which providing customized training, job skills training, and workforce development services for Wiregrass Workers and area employers.
