Wallace - Sparks Campus Confers Degrees on Graduates


Eufaula, Ala. — Wallace Community College – Sparks Campus conferred degrees and certificates on Thursday, May 12, during the Spring 2016 Commencement Exercises at the Eufaula Community Center. 

Robert Dixon, Jr., owner of M.C. Dixon Lumber in Eufaula, offered the keynote address. M.C. Dixon Lumber, which was established by Mack C. Dixon in 1928, remains one of Eufaula’s most enduring businesses. Robert Dixon is the third generation to run the family business. He is a graduate of Birmingham Southern College and received his MBA from Troy State University. 

He is a board member of the Wallace Community College, Sparks Campus Foundation, where he works closely with instructors to provide employment and input into the curriculum to assure graduates have the skills that employers are seeking. Dixon and his siblings sponsor the Mary C. and Robert M. Dixon Scholarship, which is awarded annually to a Sparks Campus student. 

Mrs. Christine George was selected as the Sparks Campus 2016 Alumnus of the Year. She is a 1997 graduate of Sparks State Technical College and also holds a Bachelor’s in Business Marketing and a Master’s in Business Administration.

She founded her own business, Leadership Solutions, LLC, to inspire others to reach their full potential by modifying behaviors and promoting change. Mrs. George is an author and is working on her second book entitled “I Remember … A Child Remembering, Forgiving, and Letting Go to Be Set Free.” When she isn’t writing, Mrs. George works with the State of Alabama in Child Support Enforcement.
