Wallace Community College-Dothan receives marketing awards


Dothan, Ala. – The Public Relations and Marketing department at Wallace Community College-Dothan walked away with six awards at the recent annual conference of the Alabama Community College System Public Relations Association (ACCSPRA) conference. The meeting was held September 8-9, 2015, in Orange Beach, Ala. 

The department received three (3) Pyramid Awards, one (1) Award of Achievement, and two (2) Best in Shows. The Best in Show category was added this year by independent judges to include projects that exceeded the Pyramid Awards level. Only two were awarded, and WCC received both of them. 

The College received Pyramid Awards for the Non-Traditional Welding Video (Video Advertising Category) to encourage female students to consider a career in welding, the National Peanut Festival Sweet Returns Campaign (Potpourri Category), and the Get the Tassel Campaign to encourage community college completion (Public Relations Marketing Campaign). The College also received an Award of Achievement for the Non-Traditional Recruiting Campaign (Recruitment Category), which featured students in seven programs in non-traditional roles by gender. 

Barbara Thompson, director of public relations and marketing, and Angila Brannon, public relations and marketing staff, accepted the awards on behalf of the College.
