Wallace Community College-Wallace Campus Holds 2017 Spring Commencement Exercises


Dothan, Ala.-Wallace Community College-Dothan (WCCD) held the 2017 Spring Commencement Exercises Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at the Dothan Civic Center.

Dr. Ed Meadows, president of Pensacola State College, offered the keynote address. Dr. Meadows earned a Master of Arts and doctorate from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana; a Master of Science in Science Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tennessee, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Delta State University, Cleveland, Mississippi. Prior to joining PSC in 2008, Dr. Meadows served in the Alabama Community College System for 17 years.  In 2013, Pensacola State was one of five colleges who formed the Alabama/Florida Technical Employment Network, or AF-TEN. Wallace Community College-Dothan was one of those five institutions. 

Dr. Meadows is the recipient of the 2017 Greater Pensacola Chamber, Leader in Education PACE Award and the 2016 Meritorious Service Award, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

WCCD selected Ronnie Dean, Chief Executive Officer of Troy Regional Medical Center, as the Wallace Community College-Dothan alumnus of the year. Dean was a healthcare executive with Southeast Alabama Medical Center for 33 years before taking on the role at Troy Regional. Mr. Dean is a WCCD Foundation Board Member and a graduate of the Respiratory Therapist program. 

The Sparks Campus in Eufaula held commencement on May 11. The College conferred 959 degrees and certificates between the two ceremonies.
