WCCD Faculty Members Participate in Instructional Leadership Challenge

Dothan, Ala. – Twenty-seven faculty members at Wallace Community College – Dothan participated in the 2015-2016 Instructional Leadership Challenge (ILC.

Participants included faculty members from the Wallace Campus, Sparks Campus, and correctional facilities. Their teaching disciplines included multiple academic, health science, and career/technical programs at WCCD.
The ILC is designed to identify, prepare, and build upon educational leadership skills and resources within the College in order to enhance the quality of learning for all students. This is the second year the program has been held.

Interim Associate Dean of General Academics Lisa Sanders coordinated the ILC as the Director of Faculty Enhancement. Sanders said the greatest part of the ILC is that it encourages rapport throughout the college.

“It makes time for faculty to really talk with each other – to share frustrations, ideas, and to become collaborative problem solvers,” Sanders said.

Jason Owen (Criminal Justice), Ann McCarty (Physical Science/Physics), Brandie Yeomans (Medical Assisting), and Michelle McInnis (Transitional Studies) were recognized for completing additional challenges during the year-long program, including creating a video to showcase their program.
