As an integral academic component of the Fine Arts Division, the Music discipline at Wallace Community College strives to provide an excellent foundation for students interested in a musical career, or transfer to a four-year institution. In addition, the College desires to aid life-long learners through the Continuing Education Programs that are offered. We are also committed to providing non-music majors an array of opportunities to explore musical connections to the human experience; historically, culturally and aesthetically through disciplined instruction. Our highly skilled faculty creates a personal and caring atmosphere that gives first priority to student growth and success. We are known as a versatile discipline that has the ability to work with all types of students on their specific performance levels whether beginning, intermediate or advanced.
Music classrooms and faculty offices are housed in Cunningham Hall on the Wallace Campus in Dothan. Our facilities include a music computer lab with twelve Yamaha Clavinovas, practice rooms, rehearsal rooms and classrooms. The actual performance hall is housed in the Miklos Bencze Theater in Cherry Hall. Our faculty consists of some of the finest music teachers and performers in the state of Alabama. Our class sizes are small allowing for personal student/teacher relationships. Our concerts and recitals are presented both on campus and off campus. They are well attended and well received by the public. We would like to extend an invitation to each of you to participate in an exciting and rewarding musical experience with us at Wallace College.
…….."Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything………………" - Plato
