| Wallace splits with Southern Union | 2007-03-24 |
| WADLEY--The Wallace Governors will remain in first place in the Southern Division. This comes as a result of the Govs splitting their conference double-header against Southern Union on Saturday afternoon. The Govs dropped the first game 3-2, but rallied to win the nightcap by that same 3-2 score. | |
| The Govs took two of three games against the Bison in their weekend conference series. The Govs have won all of their conference series so far this season. Wallace only managed four hits in the first game. Will Smith took the loss. Runs were equally as difficult to come by in game two. But Ryan Reece hit a solo home run, while Andrew Starr got the game winning RBI with his two-run single. Cody Shields got the win for the Govs, while Ernesto Gonzales picked up the save. Wallace is now 12-3 in the conference and 20-12 overall. The Govs will not play again until Friday at 1 p.m. when they host Jeff Davis. Their mid-week game against Chipola has been canceled. | |
