| PHENIX CITY—The Wallace Govs split with their conference double header with the Chattahoochee Valley Pirates here Saturday afternoon. The Govs won the first game 11-7 but dropped the nightcap 5-4. | |
| With the split, the Govs won the conference series 2-1, their second consecutive conference series victory. The Govs are now 4-2 in the Southern Division, 9-5 overall. In game one, Justin Hay pitched 5 1/3 innings to earn the win. Joseph Braswell pitched the final 3 2/3 to earn the save. Offensively, Esterlin Perozo was two-for-four with four RBIs. Jonathan Eaves was two-for-four with a home run and three RBIs. Rafael Carlot was two-for-five with a home run and an RBI. T.J. Rivera was two-for-five with two RBIs. Harman Watkins was two-for five. In game two, Brett Chamberlain took the loss. He pitched the final 2 2/3 innings of relief. Adam Oliver pitched the first 4 2/3 innings and got a no decision. At the plate, Chamberlain was two-for-four with two RBIs, and Watkins was two-for-three with an RBI. The Govs are scheduled to play mid-week games on the road against ABAC and Okaloosa-Walton before returning home Friday for a conference series against Wallace-Selma. | |
