| MOBILE--Harman Watkins hit for the cycle as the Wallace Govs continue to pound opponents into submission. Watkins went four-for-five at the plate in the first game of the conference double header against the Bishop State Wildcats here Saturday afternoon.The Govs easily won the first game 17-3. | |
| In game two, it was more of the same. The Govs continued their streak of winning games by the 10-run rule as the Govs came away with a 14-4 victory. The Govs have now won all of their conference series, sweeping the last two. Wallace is now 10-2 in the Southern Division, 15-8 overall. In addition to Watkins' single, double, triple, and home run in the first game, he also had two RBIs. The Govs also got home runs from Ryan Reece (2-for-4, four RBIs), Daniel Torrente (1-for-3, two RBIs), and Jonathan Eaves (1-for-4, two RBIs). Other hot hitters included Brett Chamberlain (2-for-4, two RBIs), T.J. Rivera (2-for-4, double, two RBIs,), and Rafael Carlot (3-for-5, double, two RBIs). On the mound, Justin Hay got the victory. He pitched six innings, gave up seven hits, three runs, and struck out six. In game two, the Govs hit five more home runs. Reece led the way going 4-for-4 with two home runs and two RBIs. Other home run hitters were Torrente (2-for-3, home run, double, two RBIs), Rivera (1-for-4, home run, RBI), and Giovanni Ortiz (1-for-1, home run, RBI). Getting multiple hits were Chamberlain (2-for-4, RBI), and Eaves (2-for-2, RBI). Adam Oliver pitched four innings to earn the victory. He allowed only one hit and one earned run, and struck out nine. The Govs are off until Friday when they host Southern Union at 1 p.m. | |
