| PHENIX CITY--The Wallace Govs took two of three games in a crucial conference series against Chattahoochee Valley this weekend. The Govs swept a double-header on Saturday, while dropping the first game on Friday. | |
| Saturday's first game was scheduled to be a nine inning game, but it ended up going 12 innings before the Govs won 9-5. T.J. Rivera was the offensive star in this game. He went 5-for-6 with a home run, two doubles, and five RBIs. Loenardo Larmarche was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Brett Birdsong pitched a complete game in the second game as the Govs won 2-1. The RBIs came on an RBI ground out by Viosergy Rosa and an RBI single by Miquel Pagan Vargas. The Govs lost the first game of the series 9-7 on Friday. Tyler Claburn took the loss, while at the plate Yeriel Nieves went 3-for-4 with a triple. The Govs are now 15-9 in Southern Division and tied for third place. The conference schedule comes to an end next weekend when the Govs travel to Southern Union. Wallace will play LBW Wednesday in a non-conference game. | |
