How To Remove a Single File or Folder in Windows
Windows allow users the task of removing files or folders. The initial six steps will allow you to obtain files and folders needed for the exercise. The remaining steps will show you how to remove a single file or folder.

STEP 1:
Click here to download a self-extracting file for the exercise. When the "File Download" window appears click on the "Run" button.


STEP 2:
On this window, click on the "Run" button.


STEP 3:
The WinZip Self-Extractor utility window appears. Click on the "OK" button.

STEP 4:
Type C:\HowTo at the "Unzip to folder" field. Now click on the "Unzip" button.


STEP 5:
Once you files are successfully unzipped, click on the "OK" botton.


STEP 6:
Now click on the "Close" button.


STEP 7:
On your computer's desktop locate and double click on the "My Computer" object.


STEP 8:
Now locate your "Local Disk (C:)" drive and double click on it.


STEP 9:
Now double click on the "HowTo" folder.


STEP 10:
The folder opens up showing you its contents. You will noltice that there are both files as well as folders within the "HowTo" folder.


STEP 11:
Click on the "CIS156 Chapter 1 Lab Project" Word document to select this single file. Now click on the "Delete this file" option on the left frame. You may opt to press the "DELETE" key on you keyboard.

STEP 12:
To confirm the file deletion click on the "Yes" button.


STEP 13:
To delete a folder, click to select the desired folder such as "Dbases". Now click on the "Delete this folder" option on the left frame. You may opt to press the "DELETE" key on you keyboard.


STEP 14:
To confirm the folder deletion click on the "Yes" button.
