How To Add an Action Button to PowerPoint
An action button allows you to have a button on the slide that will advance your slide, go back, open another program or file, or any other option you assign the button.
STEP 1:
From the Toolbar in PowerPoint, click on the "Slide Show" button.
STEP 2:
On this menu, you are then going to click on the "Action Button" link.
STEP 3:
In thie step, you select the type of button you want to be placed on the slide. You have Twelve options of buttons. Place your mouse over one of the buttons to see what the default action is. The little image you see will be the image that is on the button in the slide.

STEP 4:
Once you select the button you want, you will be shown a crosshair, like the one below, and you will click on the slide where you want the button to be placed. The buttons top left corner will be where you click the crosshair.

STEP 5:
Once you click, a box will appear for you to select the action that you want to be taken when you either click or mouseover the button that you have just added. In the example, I told it to go to the next slide on click. You can also have it play a sound when you click/mouseover the button. You can also have the button open up another program or file.
