Welcome to Adult Education
The Wallace Community College Adult Education Department is dedicated to assisting adults who are interested in one or more of the following:
- GED preparation classes and GED practice testing
- Improving reading, writing and math skills
- Basic literacy instruction for adults learning to read
- English as a Second Language (ESL) classes
- English Literacy (EL) and Civics classes
- GED testing
Classes and materials are provided FREE of charge and are available to adults age 18 or above who are no longer enrolled in school. The program is also open to 16- and 17-year-olds, having all the required documentation of withdrawal from school.
Currently, classes are offered in Dothan, Eufaula, Abbeville, Ashford, Clayton, and Headland, and depending on the specific location, sessions are offered mornings, afternoons, and evenings throughout the calendar year.
Joint Wallace and Sparks Campus GED graduation ceremonies are held twice per year, in the fall and spring, at the Wallace Community College Dothan campus. Students who pass the GED are invited to participate in these ceremonies. Individuals who pass the GED may also qualify to take one course at Wallace Community College tuition free. GED scholarship applications may be picked up at the Center for Economic and Workforce Development (CEWD) office.
