| PART-TIME FACULTY POSITIONS |
| Wallace Community College is accepting applications for adjunct (part-time) instructors for all disciplines, to fill morning, afternoon, or evening classes at all College locations. |
| QUALIFICATIONS: Adjunct instructors must meet the following applicable credential criteria. Academic teaching fields (i.e., Biology, History, Mathematics, etc.) - masters degree with 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching field from a regionally accredited institution. Required Career Technical teaching fields (i.e., Computer Numerical Control, Drafting Technology, Industrial Electronics Technology, etc.) - associate degree from a regionally accredited institution, a major in the assigned teaching area, and at least three years successful full-time experience as a practitioner in the technical field. Required Allied Health teaching fields (i.e., Respiratory Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistant, Radiologic Medical Technology, etc.) - as appropriate an associate degree or a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution, specialized coursework equivalent to the community college program, and a minimum of 3 years successful full-time experience as a practitioner in the occupational field. Possess valid and current certifications or licenses that may be required in the teaching field (e.g., Nursing, etc.). Required Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills. | ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: In addition to adhering to guidelines as specified by the Wallace Community College Personnel Handbook, the Faculty Handbook, the Alabama State Board of Education, and the College President, duties will include the following: (1) cultivating positive student learning outcomes and assessment (2) improving student learning (3) fostering student retention and success (4) challenging and cultivating student achievement beyond the classroom (5) supporting a diverse population of learners (6) working in a participatory and collegial setting (7) supporting continuous improvement of curricula and services (8) using technology and other innovative approaches to enhance the teaching/learning process (9) posting and maintaining student hours in accordance with prevailing policy |
| SALARY: Adjunct instructors in the academic fields are paid $454.75 per credit hour taught. Nursing, allied health, and career technical faculty members are paid for hourly contact with students at various rates depending on the teaching discipline, academic credentials, and professional certifications. |

| DUTIES: Certificate Course Instructors will provide and coordinate services and instruction to those individuals who are seeking training for immediate placement into the workforce. Courses range from one day to several months in length, dependent upon course need. |
| SALARY: Certificate Course Instructors are paid $25.00 - $35.00 per hour depending on experience. |

| UPWARD BOUND FACILITATORS (multiple positions) |

| DUTIES: Upward Bound Facilitators will facilitate sessions to high school participants who are working to finish high school and go on to college. Each facilitator will coordinate a special interest course to be offered daily Monday through Thursday, June 1 - July 9, 2008, on the WCC-Sparks Campus from 1:15-2:15 p.m. and again at 2:15-3:15 p.m. No classes will be held the week of June 29. Sessions of interest include art, small building construction, criminal justice, etiquette, geography, vocabulary, and reading skills. Sessions are not limited to these topics if applicants have other areas of expertise that may be of interest to the Upward Bound program. This is a part-time position that will not exceed 19 hours per week. Class size will be approximately 15 participants. |

| UPWARD BOUND PROFESSIONAL TUTORS |
| QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution. Preferred: Experience working with low-income and/or potential first generation college students; a focus on hands-on instruction. |
| DUTIES: Upward Bound Professional Tutors will facilitate active and collaborative learning in a specified discipline for 55 Upward Bound students entering grades 9-12, during a five-week non-residential summer program. Subjects of interest include Laboratory Science (Physical Science, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry), Computer Applications (MS Office software, internet research, email, and file storage, etc.), and Spanish language and culture. Professional Tutors will be involved in developing creative and hands-on curriculum, assessing student progress, and on-going evaluations. Special emphasis is given to preparation of students for the Alabama High School Graduation Exam and ACT/SAT. The summer program operates from June 1, 2008 to July 10, 2008, Monday through Thursday: 8:00 a.m. to 1:05 p.m. with a 30 minute lunch. This is a part-time position that will not exceed 19 hours per week. Class size will range from 12 to 17 maximum. |
