Current Scholarship Opportunities

Listed below are internal scholarships available through Wallace Community College (WCC) and external (outside) scholarships available through sources outside WCC.  The external scholarships listed are provided for your information only.  Questions regarding external scholarships should be directed to that particular outside agency.

Fall 2017 Leadership In Child Care Scholarship


The Leadership in Child Care Scholarship provides financial assistance (tuition and selected fees) to qualified child care professionals working in legally operating child care facilities. The Scholarship is designed for the eligible recipient to obtain a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, Short-Term Certificate, Certificate, Associate in Applied Science/Technology Degree in Child Development/Early Care and Education at a designated institution in the ACCS. The Scholarship also offers a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education at Athens. The Alabama Community College System must receive applications no later than June 1st for Fall Semester enrollment and September 1st for Spring and Summer Semester enrollment.

Summer 2017 Wallace Community College Sparks Foundation Scholarships - Sparks Campus in Eufaula


The summer 2017 Wallace Community College Sparks Foundation scholarships application is now available for the Sparks Campus in Eufaula. The deadline to apply is noon on March 24, 2017.

2017 InformedMag Security Scholarship (External)


InformedMag is offering a $1,000 Scholarship to students based on their ability to communicate their experience with a product effectively. The “InformedMag Security Scholarship” is run on an annual basis, and it is awarded on January 15th each year. The application deadline is December 31, 2017.

Fall 2017 Comparakeet Scholarship Program (External)


Comparakeet hires mostly graduates who excel at creative writing. As such, we have started a creative writing based scholarship program which we hope to grow substantially over time. Currently we are offering a bi-annual $1,000 scholarship for students who write an outstanding opinion piece about some topic that has been important to us recently. For this current cycle, for instance, the topic is "Accountability Online & The Nature of Truth." All essays must be received by the end of the day on April 28th, 2017.

2017 Grainger Tools for Tomorrow® Scholarships


Grainger Tools is looking for students who stand out in achievement and leadership and intend to enter the trade or public safety workforce upon graduation. They are offering two $2000 Grainger Tools for Tomorrow® Scholarships to students in certain skilled trade and public safety. Applicant must be enrolled in any one of the following Associate in Applied Science (AAS) programs: Air Conditioning/Refrigeration, Automotive Technology, Electrical Technology, Applied Engineering Technology (Industrial Systems Technology or Nuclear Systems Technology), Criminal Justice (Law Enforcement Concentration) and Emergency Medical Services – Paramedic. One of the two scholarships will be awarded to a U.S. Military Veteran. These scholarships are open to students on both the Dothan and Sparks campuses. Application deadline is 3:00 p.m. on March 16, 2017.

Summer 2017 Wallace Community College Foundation Scholarships-Wallace Campus in Dothan


The summer 2017 Wallace Community College Foundation Scholarships application is now available for the Wallace Campus in Dothan. The deadline to apply is 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017.

Fall 2017 Mattie Kolb Scholarship (External)


The Mattie Kolb Scholarship is a $500 scholarship awarded by the Dothan District United Methodist Women. The scholarship is awarded to any student, male or female, and is based on financial need, academic record, and service to church and community. The application deadline is April 15, 2017.

Fall 2017 Association of Service Agencies (External)


The Association of Service Agencies is offering a $500 scholarship to an eligible Houston County candidate. The deadline to apply is 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2017.

Fall 2017 Alfa Foundation Scholarship Program (External)


Alfa Foundation has established a scholarship program to assist members of the Alabama Farmers Federation who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs in the state of Alabama. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student's choice. The completed application along with all required documents must be submitted by April 1, 2017 by 11:59 p.m.

Brookwood Medical Auxiliary, Inc. Scholarship (External)


The members of the Brookwood Medical Auxiliary, Inc. are pleased to inform you that they will be awarding several scholarships in medically related fields for the school year 2017-2018. The deadline for receipt of the applications and all accompanying documents is May 25, 2017. Applicants will be informed of scholarship decisions in July.

Wallace Community College Leadership Development Program Participant


The Leadership Development cohort will serve as official student representatives of Wallace Community College. The following criteria are in place to be eligible for membership: FOR CURRENT STUDENTS – Have at least a 3.0 cumulative college GPA; participate as an active member in one or more of the organized extracurricular activities on campus or in the community. FOR INCOMING STUDENTS – Have at least a 3.0 high school GPA; serve in a key leadership role (President, Vice President or Captain/Co-Captain) on your high school campus. Preferred: Possess exemplary citizenship qualities – character, service, and leadership on campus and in the community; working with students from diverse backgrounds; ability to interact and work with a variety of personnel and meet deadlines; ability to manage several tasks at the same time; FOR INCOMING STUDENTS, preference will be given to those students who have participated in the College’s dual enrollment program. A complete application packet must be received in the Office of Student Life no later than 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 14, 2017.

2017 Greta James Memorial Scholarship (External)


Scrubshopper.com, is announcing the Greta James Memorial Scholarship for students pursuing a degree in a healthcare related profession. Once a semester, we will award up to 4 recipients with $500 to support tuition and living expenses. Deadline to apply is April 18, 2017 for Fall 2017 semester.

Fall 2017 Wallace Community College Academic, Career Technical, Performing Arts and Health Sciences Scholarships


Wallace Community College offers scholarships in four areas: academic, career technical, performing arts, and health sciences. The application deadline is 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, to be eligible for financial aid beginning in August 2017.
