Current Scholarship Opportunities

Listed below are internal scholarships available through Wallace Community College (WCC) and external (outside) scholarships available through sources outside WCC.  The external scholarships listed are provided for your information only.  Questions regarding external scholarships should be directed to that particular outside agency.

2016 Grainger Tools for Tomorrow® Scholarships


Grainger Tools is looking for students who stand out in achievement and leadership and intend to enter the trade or public safety workforce upon graduation. They are offering two $2000 Grainger Tools for Tomorrow® Scholarships to students in certain skilled trade and public safety. Applicant must be enrolled in any one of the following Associate in Applied Science (AAS) programs: Air Conditioning/Refrigeration, Automotive Technology, Electrical Technology, Industrial Systems Technology, Nuclear Systems Technology, Criminal Justice (Law Enforcement Concentration) and Emergency Medical Services – Paramedic. One of the two scholarships will be awarded to a U.S. Military Veteran. These scholarships are open to students on both the Dothan and Sparks campuses. Application deadline is 3:00 p.m. on March 7, 2016.

2016 MassMutual Scholars Program


The MassMutual Scholars Program is a national scholarship program for high-achieving college students. In 2016, MassMutual looks forward to assisting at least 30 undergraduate students with scholarships worth up to $5,000. Applications for the MassMutual Scholars Program are open until March 31, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. EST.

Fall 2016 Alfa Foundation Scholarship Program


Alfa Foundation has established a scholarship program to assist members of the Alabama Farmers Federation who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs in the state of Alabama. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student's choice. The completed application along with all required documents must be submitted by April 1, 2016 by 11:59 p.m.

Wallace Community College Leadership Development Program Participant


The Leadership Development cohort will serve as official student representatives of Wallace Community College. The following criteria are in place to be eligible for membership: FOR CURRENT STUDENTS – Have at least a 3.0 cumulative college GPA; participate as an active member in one or more of the organized extracurricular activities on campus or in the community. FOR INCOMING STUDENTS – Have at least a 3.0 high school GPA; serve in a key leadership role (President, Vice President or Captain/Co-Captain) on your high school campus. Preferred: Possess exemplary citizenship qualities – character, service, and leadership on campus and in the community; working with students from diverse backgrounds; ability to interact and work with a variety of personnel and meet deadlines; ability to manage several tasks at the same time; FOR INCOMING STUDENTS, preference will be given to those students who have participated in the College’s dual enrollment program. A complete application packet must be received in the Office of Student Life no later than 12:00 p.m., Thursday, March 17, 2016.

Fall 2016 Army Emergency Relief Scholarships


Army Emergency Relief provides scholarships for dependent children and spouses of active duty, retired, and deceased Army Soldiers. The deadline to apply for the 2016-2017 academic year is May 1, 2016.

Fall 2016 Association of Service Agencies


The Association of Service Agencies is offering a $500 scholarship to an eligible Houston County candidate. The deadline to apply is 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2016.

Fall 2016 The University of Alabama Presidential Scholarship


The University of Alabama is offering one Presidential Scholarship to a student desiring to transfer to their university during the 2016-2017 academic year. The deadline to apply is 4:00 p.m. on Monday, February 29, 2016.

Fall 2016 Wallace Community College Academic, Career Technical, Performing Arts and Health Sciences Scholarships


Wallace Community College offers scholarships in four areas: academic, career technical, performing arts, and health sciences. The application deadline is 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, to be eligible for financial aid beginning in August 2016.

2016 A Place for Mom Annual Senior Care Scholarship


Each year, A Place for Mom offers five $1,000 scholarships to students who are interested in gerontology and aging. The deadline to apply is April 15, 2016.
