Humanities Course Outcomes


Introduction to Humanities I (HUM 101)

  1. Students will be able to demonstrate an awareness of human history from the Paleolithic Era to the Renaissance.
  2. Students will be able to recognize and identify key works of art and architecture in each period from the Mesolithic Era to the Renaissance.
  3. Students will demonstrate an awareness of the origins and development of music.
  4. Students will demonstrate an understanding of the roles of religion and philosophy in art, architecture, music, and literature.
  5. Students will develop and be able to communicate both orally and in writing an awareness of human history from the Paleolithic Era to the Renaissance.

Introduction to Humanities II (HUM 102)

  1. Students will be able to identify and recognize the characteristics of the styles of art and architecture from the early Renaissance to the Postmodern period.
  2. Students will be able to identify and recognize literary works from the early Renaissance to the Postmodern period.
  3. Students will be able to identify and recognize the characteristics of the important musical forms from the early Renaissance to the Postmodern period. .
  4. Students will recognize and understand the cultural roles of religion and philosophy from the early Renaissance to the Postmodern period.
  5. Students will develop and be able to communicate an awareness of human history from the early Renaissance to the Postmodern period.
