COURSE DESCRIPTIONS (MUSIC PERFORMANCE COURSES)


Individual Instruction

Individual performance instruction is available at WCC in piano, voice, and guitar.  Emphasis is placed on developing technique, repertoire and performance skills commensurate with the student’s educational goals.  Students are required to practice a minimum of five hours per week for each credit hour.  Upon completion, students should be able to effectively perform assigned repertoire and technical studies in an appropriate performance evaluation setting.

Class Instruction

Group instruction is available in voice, piano, and fretted instruments for students with little or no previous training.  Emphasis is placed on the rudiments of music, basic performance technique and general musicianship skills. Upon completion of one or a sequence of courses, students should be able to demonstrate a basic proficiency in singing or playing and a knowledge of music fundamentals.
