MyWCC Story (View All)

Kaleb Johnson
Major: Accounting

I selected Wallace Community College because of the small class sizes. I visited several colleges and universities in my senior year of high school, and I did not like the idea of being in a class of over 100 people. I like that my instructors know me personally, and that I know everyone in my class.

I am majoring in accounting because I am very interested in business and finance. The staff at Wallace has been very beneficial in my degree planning. I have met with my advisor and instructors about opportunities in my career my field, and they have been very helpful by helping me plan my future.

I will graduate from Wallace with my Associate of Science degree. I plan to attend a four-year institution to complete my degree in accounting.

Wallace has a lot of opportunities for students to get involved. I am a member of the Sigma Kappa Delta English Honor Society, Diplomats, and I am the secretary of Rotaract. I have been involved in several community service projects through these organizations, and I have met a lot of great students who are now my friends because of the time we spend together at activities.

I chose Wallace because it is closer to home. Also, I received a softball scholarship for my first two years of school.

I wanted to get a quality education while still living close to home. I have seen that Wallace has an amazing staff of professors that genuinely care about the well-being of each student.

Major: Computer Information Systems
I have always loved academics. Unfortunately, I had to change my life plan when my mother was in a car accident. When she became well enough where I could pursue my studies, I needed to get a GED. A friend gave me a place to stay in the area, and I heard that Wallace offered a free GED test for anyone who goes through their program (and meets the requirements). I enrolled in the Adult Education program as soon as I moved.
