HISTORY
The Phillip J. Hamm Library at Wallace Community College was established concurrently with the junior college in 1963.  In 1969 the technical school and the junior college were merged to form the first South Alabama community college. In 2000 the library was expanded to the Learning Resources Center (LRC) System with locations in Dothan, Eufaula, and Ft. Rucker.

INTRODUCTION
The Learning Resources Center System provides a current collection of  resources and services to faculty, staff, and students to support college and lifelong learning. The LRC collection includes approximately 40,000 bound volumes, 300 periodical  titles, 500 media software items, and various electronic bibliographic databases including the Alabama Virtual Library.  These resources and services are provided at the Dothan and Eufaula locations. Access to resources is also provided at the Easterling Correctional Facility, Ventress Correctional Facility, and the Ft. Rucker Center.  All students are encouraged to use the LRC resources and services to enhance their learning and research opportunities. They are also encouraged to use the computers, photocopiers, typewriters, microfiche readers/printers, and viewing/listening centers which are available.  If assistance is needed, please do not hesitate to ask.

FACILITIES
The facilities of the LRC System are provided primarily for the use of the students, faculty, and staff of the College.  Other persons from the community may use the facilities and its resources on a limited basis, provided that they do not interfere with College activities.  The LRCs are closed between terms and resume operation when classes start.  LRC hours are posted at each  location.  Faculty and staff may make arrangements for use of LRC resources upon request.

LRC MISSION / PURPOSE
The mission of the Learning Resources Center System is to provide a variety of services to support the educational programs and to respond to the needs and interests of students with diverse abilities and backgrounds.  This mission is consistent with the institutional mission.
