Who is Eligible for Student Support Services?
Student Support Services is federally funded and has certain eligibility requirements for program participation. A student must qualify under at least one of the following criteria:
  • First Generation College Student: This means that neither of a student's parents have a four year college degree.
  • Low Income: This requirement is determined according to federal guidelines. Student Support Services uses the taxable income found on a student's and/or student's parents' income tax return to determine if a student can qualify under low income status. A student must have a copy of their or their parents' last completed income tax return when they return the Student Support Services application. If a student is receiving Pell Grant funds, he/she must also have a copy of their award letter to complete the application package.
  • Disabled: A student must have documentation from a physician of his/her disability to be accepted under this eligibility requirement.
A student may be eligible under one or a combination of the preceding requirements.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Once students join Student Support Services, our intent is to follow through by providing services until graduation. Students are required to participate in Student Support Services Activities in order to remain a member.

ALL Student Support Services participants are required to attend three academic enrichment workshops, one midterm evaluation with counselor and at least one cultural event per semester. Students who receive tutoring must attend all sessions or notify Student Support Services in advance if they will be unable to attend their tutoring session. Dates for all activities are published in the Student Support Services newsletter. Academic enrichment workshops can be completed via the computers in Student Support Services or online. Remember to stop by the office to complete an Academic Enrichment summary so that we can document your participation.
