WHAT IS TALENT SEARCH?

Talent Search is a federally-funded program designed to identify students in grades 6-12 and adults to age 27 with potential for education at the postsecondary level and to encourage them to complete middle school and high school and enroll in a college program.

GOALS
  • Decrease the dropout rate
  • Increase the high school graduation rate
  • Increase the number of youths from disadvantaged backgrounds who complete high school and enroll in postsecondary education institutions.
WHAT SERVICES ARE PROVIDED?

Academic Services:

  • Academic assessment

  • Assistance with course selection

  • Student success workshops

Counseling Activities:

  • Personal

  • Academic

  • Financial Aid

  • Career Exploration

Cultural Experiences

  • Cultural enrichment activities

  • Exposure to college campuses

HOW MUCH DOES IT COSTS?

There is no charge to participants in the Talent Search program. Eligible students need only to invest time, interest, and the willingness to fulfill their maximum potential..

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Meet the specific income criteria established by the U.S. Department of Education

(and/or)

Be first-generation college status (neither parent has a four-year college degree)

Be in need of services

Barbour County: Admiral Moorer Middle School Barbour County Middle School Eufaula High School Barbour County High School
Henry County: Abbeville Elementary School Abbeville High School
Russell County: Russell Co. High School

The program will serve a minimum of 635 students.
