Registration
GED registration is held every Wednesday from 1:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. in Room 203 at the Center for Economic and Workforce Development Building and every Wednesday from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the Information Desk in Building A on the Sparks Campus. When the college is closed, there will not be a registration that week. Once a testing date is filled, we will move to the next available test date. Applicants will need the identification required by the Alabama Department of Post-Secondary Education listed at the following Web site (http://www.accs.cc/gedfaq.aspx). GED fees must be paid at registration and these fees are non-refundable and do not carry over. All required letters/forms must be received at the time of registration. This will secure the candidate a seat for the assigned test date. Seating is limited.

| COMPASS™ Placement Testing |
| WCC uses the Computer-Adaptive Placement Assessment and Support System/English as a Second Language (COMPASS/ESL) developed by American College Testing (ACT®). COMPASS/ESL measures students' skills in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics and English as a Second Language. The tests are designed to assist advisors and/or counselors in placing students into appropriate college credit courses or developmental courses.
Students needing accommodations should contact Disability Support Services at respective campuses.
COMPASS/ASSET Challenge Policy According to Alabama Department of Postsecondary State Board Policy 902.01 Guidelines, students may challenge their placement (from ASSET/COMPASS testing) in English, reading, and/or math by "re-testing one time only" if they are not satisfied with their score(s). Students are given one opportunity to retest. There is a charge of $8.00 to take a COMPASS/ASSET retest for either COMPASS or ASSET challenge. If ASSET is taken as a retest, a different form must be given. Payment forms may be picked up at the following locations:

The payment forms must be processed in the Business Office or appropriate designated office on each campus. Students must bring a receipt and their federal or state picture identification to the Test Center. For test center hours, contact the appropriate campus.

| College-Level Placement Examination Program (CLEP®) |
|
CLEP is a national system of credit by examination. Examinations are administered each month through Testing Services, WCC Wallace Campus in Dothan. Test dates and applications are available at Testing Services, Grimsley Hall, room 125, (334) 983-3521, ext. 2294 or 2281. It is the student's responsibility to confirm acceptance of credit with the appropriate transfer institution, as most institutions have a set policy for the awarding of CLEP credit. WCC accepts up to 32 semester hours of college credits based on acceptable standard scores on CLEP. Credit is awarded based on minimum scores for awarding credit as recommended by the American Council on Education (ACE). Questions regarding specific CLEP credit at WCC should be directed to the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, Enrollment Services Center, Grimsley Hall, or at (334) 556-2470. Any student needing accommodations must contact Testing Center personnel before registration. Persons interested in taking the CLEP test on o ne of the days below should complete a REGISTRATION APPLICATION FORM at the time of registration in Counseling Services. Anyone wishing to take more than one test must see Jean Dagostin, Grimsley Hall, Room 125, to schedule the second test. There is a $15 non-refundable fee made payable to Wallace Community College at the time of registration. A $70 fee ($72 after July 1, 2009), payable to CLEP, is due the day of the test. CLEP prefers MASTERCARD or VISA but will accept money orders and checks. Bank debit cards are not accepted. Contact Testing Services (Grimsley Hall Room 125 or 117) for an application.

| Biology Placement Exam |
|
Persons interested in taking the Biology placement exam on one of the dates below should come to registration and complete an APPLICATION PAYMENT FORM to return to the Business Office for payment. The cost of the exam is $26.25. Students must register 15 minutes prior to testing in Grimsley Hall room 126. Students must present a state or federal ID at registration. Students must understand that this exam is only valid for two-year colleges in the state of Alabama for exempting BIO103 which is the pre-requisite for BIO201 and BIO220. Passing this exam will not earn credit for BIO103 for the A.A. or A.S. degrees or transfer to another college or university. Questions regarding the Biology placement exam at Wallace Community College should be directed to Ms. Dagostin. Any students needing accommodations must see Ms. Dagostin prior to the test date.

| Ability-to-Benefit Test |
|
In keeping with the mission of the Alabama Community College System, applicants with less than a high school diploma or GED(r) may be admitted to courses not creditable toward an associate degree or programs comprised exclusively of courses not creditable toward an associate degree, provided they meet the following criteria:
- Are at least 16 years of age: AND
- Have not been enrolled in secondary education for at least one calendar year; AND
- Have specifically documented ability to benefit (appropriate scores on the CPAt exam, ASSET (r) or COMPASS (r) in certain cases); OR
- Hold the Alabama Occupational Diploma, as defined by the Alabama State Board of Education, the high school diploma of another state equivalent to the Alabama Occupational Diploma, or an equivalent diploma issued by a nonpublic high school, and have not achieved a minimum ACT(r) score of 16 or a minimum SAT (r) score of 790 on critical reading and math.
Educational programs composed exclusively of courses not creditable toward an associate degree and are available to the general public include Auto Body Repair, Cabinetmaking/Carpentry, Cosmetology, Cosmetology - Nail Technology, Masonry, and Welding Technology.

| Test of Essential Academic Skills Version V (TEAS-V®) New Entrance Exam for Nursing Applicants starting Fall 2011 |

The TEAS-V® measures basic essential skills in the academic content area of reading, mathematics, science, English and language usage. Applicants must create an account at www.atitesting.com to register and schedule a date for testing.
Guidelines for TEAS-V Testing
Total time available to test – 209 minutes (3hours and 29 minutes)
Four Option Multiple-choice; Number of Test Questions – 170
- Reading – 58 minutes / 48 questions
- Math – 51 minutes / 34 questions
- Science – 66 minutes / 54 questions
- English & Language – 34 minutes /34 questions
Accommodations for Students with Disabilities
According to the U.S. Department of Education’s Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, a student with a disability may be defined as any individual who:
- has a physical or mental impairment which substantially limits one or more major life activities;
- has a record of such an impairment; or
- is regarded as having such an impairment.

The Adjusted individual Total score percentage score is utilized in calculating the nurse entry admission process. If the Adjusted Individual Total Score is 94% X 150 or 141 points. There is no minimum score required on the TEAS-V® but a higher score produces a higher point total for nursing entry. Cost of the test TEAS-V® is $40.00. This fee must be paid in advance online by debit or credit card at www.atitesting.com. You may find the test times for the Dothan Testing Center and the Eufaula Testing Center by clicking each center's name.
Registering for the TEAS-V®:
- Log on to www.atitesting.com
- Click on “Register for TEAS®” at the bottom right corner of your screen.
- After completing the registration process, testers will be required to create a user account if they do not already have one prior to purchasing the test session. REMEMBER YOUR USER ID AND PASSWORD—IT WILL BE REQUIRED AT TIME OF TESTING.
Taking the TEAS-V®
- Arrive 30 minutes early to the test site
- Present one form of ID (must be a government issued photographic identification – i.e. Driver’s License or Passport)
- Provide ATI Username and Password (www.atitesting.com –assigned when registering/paying for exam)
- No calculators or electronic devices allowed during testing (this includes cell phones)
- Schedule four hours to complete the exam
- Late arrivals will not be allowed to test and therefore, will forfeit his/her testing fee
Please Note
- ATI assesses a $20.00 fee to transfer a TEAS-V® score to a location other than your original test site.
- Missed exams are non-refundable; however, you may change a test date by contacting ATI at least 48 hours in advance of your originally scheduled testing date.
- TEAS-V® is good for three years.
- TEAS-V® may be repeated only once during a semester admission time frame. The student must wait at least six-weeks between taking each test.
- Proof of TEAS-V® Score must be attached to nursing application.

What is the A2® Exam?
The Evolve Reach Admissions Assessment (A2®) Exam measures basic skills in the following academic content areas:
- Math: (50 items) Focuses on math skills needed for health care fields, including basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, decimals, ratio and proportion, household measures, and general math facts.
- Reading Comprehension: (47 items) Provides reading scenarios in order to measure reading comprehension, including: identifying the main idea, finding meaning of words in context, passage comprehension, making logical inferences, etc.
- Vocabulary and General Knowledge: (50 items) Contains basic vocabulary that is often used in health care fields.
- Grammar: (50 items) Contains basic grammar including: parts of speech, important terms and their uses in grammar, and commonly occurring grammatical errors.
- Additional questions on the following topics will be included but not used in score determination:
- Learning Styles: 14 item assessment of the applicant’s preferred learning style.
- Personality Style: 25 item assessment of personality related to the applicant’s preferred learning style.
- Applicants will receive a printout of study tips based on their learning style and personality profile.
- Total time available to test: 4 hours
Who should register for the A2 Exam?
All students who apply to the Radiologic Technology Program at Wallace Community College are required to take the A2® Exam as part of the application process. The score received on this exam will be considered as part of the selective admissions process. (See the Radiologic Technology Admissions Ranking Sheet for a breakdown of the scoring process.)
How do I prepare for the A2® Exam?
The Evolve Reach Testing and Remediation Admission Assessment Exam Review, 2nd Edition is available for purchase in the WCC bookstore or online from HESI.
How do I register for the A2® Exam?
- Complete an Application for Admissions to Wallace Community College. Once your application is complete you will be assigned a student number which you must have to register for the exam. This student number also allows you to make payment for the exam.
- You must email your request for a test date and time to testing@wallace.edu. The dates and times for taking the exam are listed below. Be sure to use a valid email address that you check often. A confirmation email with a payment form attached will be sent to the email address you use for registration. If you do not have an email address you will be provided an email address with Wallace Community College when your application to the College is complete.
- The cost of the exam is of $34 (non-refundable). Payment must be made in the business office at any Wallace Community College Campus prior to testing. You must bring your confirmation email with payment form to the business office to pay. You must also have your student number to make this payment.
- You must bring a copy of the confirmation email and your original receipt with you on your designated test date.
- All testing takes place in the Testing Center in Grimsley Hall, room 126, on the Wallace Campus of Wallace Community College. Please visit www.wallace.edu for directions.
- Forty seats are available for each testing date and time.
- You must register at least 24 hours prior to the exam.
What should I do on my scheduled test date?
- Arrive 20-30 minutes prior to testing time
- Allow 4 hours in your schedule for the testing process
- Bring the following to the test:
- Government issued picture ID (driver’s license, passport, etc)
- A printed copy of your email test date confirmation
- Receipt for payment of the test from the business office
- Your email address
- Your student number

- There is no minimum score for this exam. You should be attempting to get the highest score possible.
- Evolve assesses a $15 fee to transfer A2® Exam scores to another program other than Wallace Community College.
- Missed exams are non-refundable; however you may reschedule by email no later than 24 hours prior to your original test date and time.
- The A2® Exam may be repeated only once during any admission time frame. When scheduling a second attempt you must state it is your second attempt in the registration email. There are two versions of the exam. The exam software will not allow a student to test twice on the same exam. If you do not identify yourself as a repeat tester you will be locked out of the exam and testing fees are non-refundable. The second attempt can be scheduled for any of the dates listed on this sheet.
- A2® scores will be sent to your email address 48-72 hours after testing.
