WHAT IS UPWARD BOUND? Upward Bound is a federally-funded program designed to generate in program participants the skills and motivation necessary to persist on completing a program of secondary education and entering and completing a program of postsecondary education. Wallace Community College--Sparks Campus' Upward Bound program will target ninth, tenth, and eleventh graders in four service-area high schools to assist them in fulfilling their individual academic and personal potential. As an incentive, participants will receive a monthly stipend. |

| HOW MUCH DOES IT COSTS?
There is NO CHARGE to participate in the Upward Bound program. Eligible students need only invest time, interest, and the willingness to fulfill their maximum potential. |

| WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
In order to be eligible for Upward Bound, a student must meet the following guidelines:
Program participants must also: Meet specific income criteria established by the U.S. Department of Education|and/or Meet the requirement to be a potential first-generation college student (neither parent has a four-year college degree) |

The WCC-Sparks Campus Upward Bound program was awarded a grant for September 2007–August 2011 in the amount of $283,142.00. One hundred percent of the total costs of the Upward Bound program will be financed with federal money. Zero percent of the total costs of our Upward Bound program will be financed by non-governmental sources. |
