Current Scholarship Opportunities

Listed below are internal scholarships available through Wallace Community College (WCC) and external (outside) scholarships available through sources outside WCC.  The external scholarships listed are provided for your information only.  Questions regarding external scholarships should be directed to that particular outside agency.

ACCS and AAMA (Alabama Automotive Manufacturers Association) Scholarships-Deadline Extended (External)


Application deadline has been extended to March 14, 2019.

2019 Mattie Kolb Scholarship (External)


The Mattie Kolb Scholarship is a $500 scholarship awarded yearly by the Dothan District United Methodist Women. The application and official transcripts must be mailed no later than April 15, 2019.

2019 Wiregrass Electric Cooperative Operation Round Up Scholarships (External)


The Financial Aid Office has received information for the Wiregrass Electric Cooperative (WEC) Operation Round Up Scholarships Program. Application and all supporting documents must be postmarked by April 12, 2019. Late or incomplete applications will be disqualified.

Dr. Allen and Ronnie Latimer Respiratory Therapy Leadership Scholarship


This scholarship will be awarded to a Respiratory Therapy Program student in their last semester. The scholarship will reimburse recipients up to $800 to cover the cost of exams required for certification. Application deadline is March 1, 2019. Late or incomplete applications will be disqualified.

Association of Service Agencies Scholarship (External)


The Association of Service Agencies is offering a $500 scholarship to eligible Houston County residents to help defray costs of attending college. Be sure to follow the instructions included on the General Information Sheet included with the scholarship application. The application deadline is Friday, March 15, 2019, at 4:00 p.m.

Fall 2019 Army Emergency Relief Scholarships (External)


Army Emergency Relief provides scholarships for dependent children and spouses of active duty, retired, and deceased Army Soldiers. The application and all instructions are on their website, www.aerhq.org. The deadline for children to apply for the 2019-2020 academic year is April 1, 2019. There is no deadline for spouses to apply.

American Welding Society Foundation Scholarships (External)


Since 1991, the AWS Foundation has helped students from around the world to realize their dreams and make them a reality. AWS Foundation scholarships help students with their financial obligations; they help to cover a variety of school expenses such as tuition and fees, books and other supplies.



ESCC acts as a clearinghouse for scholarship information and applications to the E.L. Gibson Foundation. The main purpose of this foundation is to promote better health of the residents in specific Wiregrass areas. One of the major ways of accomplishing this goal is to provide scholarships to assist persons seeking a degree in the health care field, especially nursing (LPN and RN), radiology technicians, laboratory technicians, respiratory therapy technicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and medical doctors. The E.L. Gibson Foundation Board of Directors meets four times per year to award scholarships. Applications must be submitted by the following deadlines to be considered for the next award cycle. Deadlines: February 28, May 31, August 31, and November 30. Applicants must be permanent residents of Coffee County or the immediate surrounding areas of Geneva, Dale, or Covington County as far west as Opp. New applicants should download the application, complete it, and send it along with all other requested items to the address on the application. NOTE: This application form is used only for this scholarship.
