The 12 Week Basic Maintenance Technician program prepares students for entry level employment in various capacities in a manufacturing environment. Students will gain hands-on experience with multimeters, slide calipers, micrometers, motor controls, mechanical drives and pumps. The program includes a wide variety of training that will enable graduates to repair, troubleshoot, install, dismantle, adjust or maintain industrial production and processing machinery.
Classes Meet:
Monday-Thursday, Wallace Campus 5:00 pm-8:00 pm
The fee for the course is $3500. This includes tuition, book, and a toolkit with a multimeter, etc.

Prerequisites include:
State issued photo ID
Students must be at least 18 years old
Minimum placement TABE score of 7.0 on math and reading assessments

The Basic Maintenance Technician Course is an Alabama Office of Apprenticeship Certified Pre-Apprenticeship Program
Program completers can attempt up to 5 Prior Learning Assessment’s (PLA’s) and get credit for up to 5 credit-based courses within the Industrial Maintenance Mechanic apprenticeship in Applied Engineering Technology at Wallace Community College. The costs of the PLA’s are embedded in the program tuition.
