Work from Anytime, Anywhere with Virtual Desktop

What is VDI?

The Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) allows WCC students, faculty, and staff the ability to remotely log in and access their own ACCS virtual desktop running Windows 11 from any device and from anywhere with an Internet connection. Anytime, Anywhere!

What are the benefits of VDI?

  • Learn from anywhere – Whether you’re on campus, at home, or on the move, you can access your work anytime.
  • Use any device – Works on almost any laptop, desktop, or tablet.
  • Pick up where you left off – Save your work and access it from any session, on any device.
  • Safe and secure – Your files and tools are protected in a secure environment.
  • All the tools you need – Use the same software available in campus computer labs.  You can login to OneDrive and other Microsoft apps.
  • Faculty/Staff working offsite do not need a VPN or a special laptop—just internet access. If your laptop breaks, you don’t lose anything—just log in from another one.
  • VDI is especially beneficial for students who:
    • If using a MacBook or Chromebook creates issues, use the VDI to access a Windows PC.
    • Using a basic tablet or laptop without Microsoft Office installed? Use VDI to access the apps and allow it to do the heavy lifting, not your device.
    • Allows students to centralize their learning environment, save all their work in one place, and get comfortable using the VDI system early on.

How do I use VDI?

There are TWO ways to use the VDI.

Option 1 – This option should be used if you do not have authorization to install software on the computer you are using.

OR

Option 2 – Download and install virtual desktop software on your personal computer.
