Wallace Foundations Receive $75,000 Endowment Donation from Five Star Credit Union Foundation

Wallace Community College-Dothan (WCCD) is proud to announce a generous $75,000 endowment from the Five Star Credit Union Foundation to the Wallace Community College Foundations. This investment will expand scholarship opportunities through WCCD’s established scholarship program, helping more students access higher education and achieve their academic and career goals.”

Murphy. “Five Star has a long history of offering financial support in the areas it serves, and this most recent donation continues that wonderful legacy.  These scholarship dollars will open doors for many individuals who might otherwise face financial barriers to their higher education goals. It is more than a gift—it is a powerful statement of belief in our students, our mission, and the potential of education to transform lives and communities.”“A college degree helps our community earn up to 60 percent more in salary than a high school degree,” said Robert A. Steensma, president of the Five Star Credit Union Foundation. “By endowing these scholarships, Five Star and its partner schools continue to reach more students, removing financial barriers, and helping them to not go in debt to earn a degree. If our purpose at Five Star is to brighten the financial future of the communities we serve, then education must play a major role. We’re excited to see how these students impact their communities in the future.”

The Wallace Community College Foundations work in partnership with the College to ensure access to education and to help achieve success for its students. Each semester, the Foundations award scholarships to deserving students who would not otherwise be able to attend college.  Because of generous giving from community members to the WCC Foundations, the College is able to provide excellent transfer education, nursing and allied health education, skills training, and custom training for local business and industry.
