WCCD Announces Dr. Wendy DuBose as Dean of Health Sciences

Headshot of Dr. Wendy DuBoseWallace Community College–Dothan (WCCD) is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Wendy DuBose as the College’s new Dean of Health Sciences. Dr. DuBose, a WCCD alumna and accomplished educator, brings extensive nursing expertise, a record of collaborative leadership, and a strong commitment to student achievement to her new role.

Dr. DuBose holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) from the University of Alabama, completing her dissertation “Climate Control: Does Caring Really Matter?” in 2017. She also earned a Master of Science in Nursing with dual tracks in Clinical Nurse Specialist and Nurse Educator from Auburn University; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Auburn University at Montgomery; and an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from WCCD. She is a licensed Registered Nurse and holds multiple professional certifications, including Certified Nurse Educator credentials and several certifications in online instruction and instructional delivery.

Since 2022, Dr. DuBose has served as Assistant Clinical Professor, RN to BSN Program Coordinator, and MSN Nurse Educator Track Coordinator for the Auburn University at Montgomery School of Nursing. In these roles, she has led curriculum development, supported faculty, and championed student success. Her combination of instructional expertise, nursing practice, and program leadership uniquely positions her to guide WCCD’s Health Sciences Division into its next phase of innovation and expansion.

WCCD President Dr. Kathy L. Murphy expressed excitement about the appointment, emphasizing the importance of the new leadership role. “As we continue establishing and advancing health pathways that prepare highly skilled, compassionate healthcare professionals for our region, Dr. DuBose’s leadership will be invaluable,” Murphy said. “Her strategic mindset and passion for innovation in healthcare education will be critical as we continue to be the healthcare workforce provider for the Wiregrass.”

“I am so honored to accept the position of Dean of Health Sciences at Wallace Community College!” said Dr. DuBose. “I have been presented with an opportunity to give back to the institution that molded me into a healthcare professional and consequentially changed my life. It is because of the experience and education I received at Wallace Community College as a student long ago that I am where I am today. I strongly value professionalism, integrity, fairness, accountability, and transparency. It is my goal to continue to grow our health sciences programs to be the best and to be an effective leader.”
