Mr. Lathon Clark, WCCD Dean of Capital Projects, Maintenance, and Operations
Wallace Community College-Dothan (WCCD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Lathon Clark as Dean of Capital Projects, Maintenance, and Operations, effective May 4, 2026.
Clark brings nearly 30 years of federal experience, including close to two decades in senior leadership roles overseeing major construction and renovation initiatives. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a strong ability to lead complex, multimillion-dollar projects while aligning facilities strategy with organizational priorities. His expertise also includes facilities operations, preventive maintenance programs, and regulatory compliance, ensuring safe, efficient, and well-maintained environments.
“We are excited to welcome Lathon Clark to Wallace Community College,” said Dr. Kathy L. Murphy. “I look forward to the leadership, vision, and energy he brings as we continue strengthening our facilities operations and maintenance programs, enhancing the safety and efficiency of our physical environments, and supporting the infrastructure that enables our students, faculty, and community to thrive.”
Clark is a proud product of the Wiregrass area. He was born and raised in Ozark, Alabama, a place he often describes as “a small town with a big heart.” He praises his parents for keeping him rooted in the values of community, service, and hard work, as his connection to the Wiregrass has shaped both his leadership style and his commitment to giving back to the community that helped raise him.
After graduating from Carroll High School, Clark attended Auburn University at Montgomery before earning his Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership and Management from Mercer University. Along the way, he pursued several technical and leadership certifications, including AutoCAD, Blueprint Reading, the Certified Construction Manager program, and Yale University’s Connected Leadership certification; building a diverse foundation that blends operational expertise with people-centered leadership. Before joining WCCD, Clark was employed by the Social Security Administration in Lease Management and Project Execution.
Today, Clark brings that same passion and vision to his role as Dean of Capital Projects, Maintenance, and Operations, where he is focused on strengthening campuses, expanding opportunities for students, and investing in the future of the Wiregrass community.
“It’s an exciting time to serve as Dean of Capital Projects, Maintenance, and Operations,” said Clark. “I’m especially excited about the upcoming capital projects at WCC Dothan and Eufaula; projects that will enhance our facilities and enrich the learning environment for our students, faculty, and surrounding community. I didn’t return to the Wiregrass simply to work; I returned to serve.”
