WCCD Child Development Campuses Receive Grants to Enhance Early Learning Curriculum

Wallace Community College-Dothan (WCCD) is excited to announce that its Dothan and Sparks Child Development campuses have received grants from the Wallace Foundation to strengthen early childhood education programming. The Dothan campus received the Mixon Enhancement Grant, and the Sparks campus received the Innovation Grant, both aimed at expanding resources for infant and toddler learning.

These grants will fund the purchase of the Frog Street Infant Curriculum, a widely used early childhood program in the region served by WCCD. The curriculum provides practical, evidence-based materials for child development students to create engaging activities and lesson plans for the youngest learners, enhancing hands-on learning and classroom readiness.

“The addition of the Frog Street curriculum ensures that our students are learning to implement high-quality, research-based strategies from day one,” said Traci Murph, WCCD Child Development instructor. “This grant allows our campuses to give students the tools they need to make a real impact in the lives of infants and toddlers, added Collins Trott, WCCD Child Development instructor.

The WCCD Child Development program remains committed to equipping future educators with the knowledge, resources, and practical experience to support early learning in Alabama’s classrooms. The WCC Child Development program prepares students for careers in early childhood education through coursework, practical experience, and innovative initiatives.

By integrating research-based curriculum and hands-on learning, students gain the skills needed to provide exceptional care and education to young children.
