WCCD Child Development Program Partners with Feed Me Words to Enhance Student Learning and Literacy

As part of the program’s curriculum, WCCD Child Development students now have access to free, evidence-based language and literacy training through Cox Campus, providing essential tools to support children’s early learning. Upon completing the training, students can apply for a $200 incentive through APC’s Feed Me Words program, which supports both their in-class learning and provides extra financial support.

Additionally, APC is providing students with a curated collection of children’s books aligned with course topics, as well as resources available through Cox Campus. Each Child Development course completed earns the student a book to build their future classroom library, allowing them to put learning into practice while fostering literacy in the children they will teach.

“This partnership not only enhances the professional skills of our students but also helps them create impactful learning environments for the children in their care,” said Collins Trott, WCCD Child Development instructor. WCCD Child Development instructor Traci Murph adds, “It’s a perfect example of how collaboration can strengthen early childhood education in Alabama.”

The WCCD Child Development program prepares students for rewarding careers in early childhood education. Through a combination of coursework, practical experience, and innovative partnerships, students gain the skills needed to nurture the next generation of learners.
