Several members of the WCCD Strategic Planning Committee met in late September to kick off the College’s strategic planning process.

Wallace Community College-Dothan (WCCD) has officially launched its 2026–2031 Strategic Planning process, a comprehensive initiative designed to guide the College’s direction for the next five years. This process will establish key priorities that strengthen student success, enhance academic programs, and expand the College’s role as a driver of workforce and community development in the Wiregrass region.

“Our strategic plan is more than a document; it’s a promise to our students, employees, and the communities we serve,” said Dr. Kathy L. Murphy, WCCD President. “Together, we will align programs and services to the needs of our region, elevate student success, and deepen our impact.”

The planning process is being led by the Strategic Planning Committee, chaired by Mandy Sessions, WCCD Director of Institutional Effectiveness. Committee members represent faculty, staff, administration, and external stakeholders, ensuring broad input and collaboration. Over the coming months, the College will gather feedback from internal and external partners, analyze data trends, and identify opportunities for growth and innovation.

The 2026–2031 Strategic Plan is expected to be finalized and adopted in Fall 2026.

Key areas of focus will include:

  • Increasing student access, retention, and completion
  • Expanding workforce development and partnerships with local employers
  • Enhancing academic programs and student services
  • Investing in faculty and staff development
  • Strengthening community engagement and regional economic impact

Wallace invites community members, alumni, and partners to engage through surveys, focus groups, and advisory sessions. Input will directly shape the plan’s initiatives and goals.

“The success of this plan depends on collaboration,” Sessions said. “We want to hear from voices across the College and the Wiregrass. Together, we will build a plan that positions Wallace for excellence and lasting community impact.”
