Students participating in the new programs now have the opportunity to earn:
“These programs are not only meeting the needs of our local workforce, but also providing students with meaningful opportunities to earn credentials while still in high school,” said Jennifer Matheny, WCCD Dual Enrollment Coordinator. “Our partnership with Houston County Schools is a powerful example of how education and community collaboration can open doors for the next generation.”
These programs join current academic and healthcare-focused options offered through WCCD Dual Enrollment at the Houston County Career Academy, where students can also earn short-term certifications in Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Medical Assisting-Phlebotomy and Welding Technology.
Looking ahead, stakeholders will meet to explore expanding medical programs as well as broadening dual enrollment opportunities through partnerships with more districts, schools, and community organizations. This continued focus on growth demonstrates WCCD’s commitment to providing greater access to quality healthcare and career and technical education across the region, while remaining responsive to the needs of both the students and local workforce.
