WCCD Students Benefit from Expanded Paths for Success Foundation Pathways to Prosperity Scholarship

WCCD Lineworker students in the pole yardMore Wallace Community College-Dothan (WCCD) students are now able to take advantage of the updated Paths to Success Foundation Pathways to Prosperity Scholarship, a state-funded initiative providing financial assistance to Alabama students pursuing high-demand careers through short-term credentials in Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.

Effective October 1, 2025, the Pathways to Prosperity Scholarship has been expanded and combined with the Short-Term Credential Scholarship Program to provide streamlined funding and additional benefits for students. The scholarship now allows eligible Alabama residents to receive funds that are applied directly to tuition and fees, eliminating the need for students to pay costs up front and wait for reimbursement. Awards may cover up to $4,500 per student per program.

The Pathways to Prosperity Scholarship supports students enrolling in Alabama Community College System (ACCS)-approved short-term credential programs that can be completed in two semesters or less and lead directly to employment in industries such as advanced manufacturing, healthcare, information technology, construction, transportation, HVAC, welding, and electrical trades.

Programs at Wallace that qualify include Welding, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medication Assistant, Professional Medical Coding, Pre-apprentice Electrical Lineworker, Advanced EMT, CAD Operator, and other short-term workforce programs.

Key Program Highlights and Updates:

  • Students must be Alabama residents and demonstrate financial need.
  • Eligible programs must lead to a short-term credential (e.g., MSSC, CompTIA Security+, NCCER, CNA, or an ACCS credential) and be completed within one calendar year.
  • Scholarships are applied directly to the student’s college account in two installments, and students are not required to pay tuition covered by the scholarship.
  • Students who do not complete the program or the Post-Completion Survey will forfeit the scholarship and may be required to repay funds.
  • A student may not receive more than one award until one calendar year after completing the short-term credential program for which the prior funds were awarded.
