WCCD Students Hired as Tech Scholars by Michelin for Second Advanced Manufacturing FAME Cohort

Wallace Community College-Dothan (WCCD) students Hendrick Sanchez and William Bryan have been officially hired by Michelin North America –US4 as part of the second cohort of the Wiregrass FAME (Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education) program.  These outstanding students will join the FAME – Advanced Manufacturing associate degree pathway, combining hands-on work experience with classroom instruction as they train for high-demand advanced manufacturing careers.

The announcement was made following a successful interview and selection process at Michelin’s US4 facility in Midland City, AL. Both Hendrick and William were extended offers to become Michelin Tech Scholars and trained Advanced Manufacturing Technicians (AMTs). Their new roles mark the continuation of a growing partnership between WCCD and Michelin to build a stronger, skilled local workforce.

“We are incredibly proud of Mr. Sanchez and Mr. Bryan and excited to see them begin their journey with Michelin,” said Martha Compton, CTE Associate Dean. “The FAME model is a game-changer for students and industry alike. It produces work-ready graduates and gives students a direct path to rewarding, high-wage careers in advanced manufacturing.”

The Wiregrass FAME program, hosted by WCCD, blends college-level technical education with paid work experience in industrial settings. Students in the program attend classes two days a week and work at their sponsoring company three days a week, gaining practical skills while earning a competitive wage.
