Mission: The Leadership Development cohort will serve as official student representatives of Wallace Community College. The program is designed to recognize outstanding students at the institution who exemplify leadership qualities in the areas of academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and community concern. Students will develop their own philosophies of leadership in a for-credit leadership course, attend a statewide leadership institute, establish mentoring relationships with Wallace faculty and staff, and participate in a Service-Learning component with IMPACT Alabama’s FocusFirst project.

Criteria: FOR CURRENT STUDENTS – Have at least a 3.0 cumulative college GPA; participate as an active member in one or more of the organized extracurricular activities on campus or in the community. FOR INCOMING STUDENTS – Have at least a 3.0 high school GPA and serve in a key leadership role (President, Vice President or Captain/Co-Captain) on your high school campus. Preferred: Possess exemplary citizenship qualities-character, service, and leadership on campus and in the community; working with students from diverse backgrounds; ability to interact and work with a variety of personnel and meet deadlines; ability to manage several tasks at the same time; FOR INCOMING STUDENTS, preference will be given to those students who have participated in the College’s dual enrollment program.
